Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we are asked most.
Getting started & beta
Oudena lets you ride real-world routes indoors on a smart trainer. Choose a curated route, import one of your own, or describe the ride or training you want to create.
Oudena is currently in a closed beta via TestFlight. You can request beta access and invitations are sent to selected testers.
Yes. You set up an account during onboarding before you start using Oudena.
Trainer & setup
Oudena connects to smart trainers over Bluetooth using FTMS, the standard smart trainer protocol. A confirmed list of tested models will be published as testing continues.
Routes & creation
Import a GPX, FIT or TCX file. Oudena keeps the route’s distance, elevation and gradients for an indoor ride.
You can keep up to 100 of your own imported routes in Oudena.
The home screen offers selected collections of routes and interval workouts. Routes show elevation, while workouts show their interval structure.
Describe what you want in plain language and Oudena can generate a route or a structured interval workout. You review the result before starting it.
Riding & results
Your own best previous ride on a route rides alongside you as a ghost. The live gap is shown in seconds, with the elevation profile showing where you gained or lost time.
For virtual manual shifting, swipe up in the left third of the ride screen for a harder gear and down for an easier one. You can also use virtual auto shifting or shift on your bike’s real cassette.
Oudena uses a ride model rather than mapping gradient directly to brake force. Indoor simulation remains an approximation because a trainer does not know your total mass.
Analytics shows distance, time, average and maximum power, average and maximum speed, cadence stability, elevation gained and heart rate. You can inspect recorded values at any selected point.
Sharing & connections
Yes. Connect Strava once in Settings, then upload a finished ride from the ride summary or from Analytics. Oudena sends the ride to your own Strava account as an activity file.
No. The connection runs in one direction only. Oudena asks Strava for permission to upload activities and for nothing else, so it cannot read your Strava activities, routes, segments, training history or performance data. Nothing from Strava is used for the AI ride builder either.
Not through the connection, because it only uploads. Export the route from Strava as a file, then import that GPX, FIT or TCX file into Oudena the way you would import any other route.
Only if you ask for that. By default you start each upload yourself. Settings has an optional Strava auto-upload switch, off unless you turn it on, which uploads a ride once you finish it.
The recorded ride: time, distance, elevation, cadence and power at every recorded point, the track where the route carries position data, and the route name as the activity name.
No. Heart-rate data is encrypted and stays on your iPhone. Oudena never includes it in a Strava upload, in an Apple Health export, in a data export or in a device backup.
In Settings, choose Disconnect Strava. That removes the connection and the upload permission. Activities you have already uploaded stay on Strava, where you manage or delete them yourself. Deleting your Oudena account withdraws the permission as well.
Yes. A finished ride can be written to Apple Health as an indoor cycling workout. iOS asks for your permission first, and each ride is your decision unless you switch the export on by default in Settings.
Data & next steps
The Privacy page explains how this website handles data, including beta access requests.
Use the beta request flow to tell us about your setup and what you would like to test. The closed beta is reviewed before invitations are sent.
The support page carries the address to write to, what to include so the first reply can actually help, and where to find compatibility, privacy and account-deletion information.
In the app, under Settings: Delete account permanently removes your cloud data and withdraws the Strava permission with it. You confirm your identity as part of the deletion.
